I remember in jr. high I got a KG-240 5 tube stereo amp kit for Xmas. It had a metal case. I think it was rated at 10 watts. Having a transformer output, I could hook up many speakers to it, and it would drive them all. Along with it I got a turntable and speakers. The speakers came with heavy walnut cabinets w/cane speaker cloth and Jensen 8" co-ax drivers. Had a lot of fun putting everything together. The next year, I got a KG-70 Transister Stereo AM/FM receiver. This was the most complex Knight Kit I ever assembled, but after weeks of soldering, it worked like a champ. When I was deployed to Korea for the Army, many years later, I gave the stereo to my brother, as I was actively purchasing all kinds of in-expensive stereo equipment thru the PX. While the new stereo equipment was much better, it was not as much fun.

My uncle gave me a Knight Kit Broadcaster when I was about 10 years old. He had already built it. I had a bunch of fun with this, playing radio disc jockey, I still have it, and it works! I use to hook it up to my 50 foot antenna (don't tell the FCC) I had behind the house. I also had a small mixer, turntable and several mics. I had a great time jamming radios my mother and sister were listening to. Not sure if they ever figured out why their radios just got squeals and static sometimes. Sorry WHO radio.

This forum is for anything Knight Kits. Knight Kits were sold by Allied Radio of Chicago, in the 50's and 60's.
If you loved soldering on these kits when you were younger, let us know.
