This forum is for anything Knight Kits. Knight Kits were sold by Allied Radio of Chicago, in the 50's and 60's.
If you loved soldering on these kits when you were younger, let us know.

Hi Tim! thanks for opening this site, Maybe others will become hooked on the simplicity (then) and fun of electronics like I did at 11 also. I have a TREMENDOUS pile of electronics including, I think a Knight short wave receiver and I just bought a 10-2 CB checker which someone will love. That interest provided the path to a career ending as a Senior Consultant/CEO of Electronic Measurement Consultants! Maybe another kid will find his dad's Knight kit in the garage and become hooked and therby start his career also in the future. cheers Roar

Does anyone know where I can get a S-Meter for an Allied Knight Roamer SW radio? a seller on e-pay just sent me one that wasn't packed well at all, and the tubes broke and so did the S-meter... I found the tubes at a radio repair shop in Melbourne, but the meter is toast and maybe hard to find....hope not..

I have fond memories of Allied. They would accept small orders and even send you a one cent check if you overpaid by a penny. Their kits were relatively inexpensive compared to Heath. So for Christmas, my list for santa, included many items from their catalog. My first soldering gun, was a Cristmas present. Mom was a good customer of theirs, and had to go to PO to get money order as they didn't have a checking account.
My first girlfriends mother had a checking account, asked her for checks so I didn't have to pay for MO.
Oh those were the days, checking mailbox everyday until it arrived, and building kits for others that felt challenged.
Remember first CB, shown in 62 catalog, worked with or without crystal plugged in???
So many memories!

Hi Tim! This should be a nice forum to help bring back fond memories. Mine were of building an old KnightKit Span Master in the very late 1950's or early 1960's. I loved listening to shortwave broadcasts and especially ham operators. Thanks to the Span Master, I eventually got my ham license and am still active today. I still own several pieces of KnightKit gear and most is still operational. I'm listening to my old SpanMaster now on a favorite AM station as I type.

Indeed thanks for the Forum on the knight kits. I built an R100A when I was in the 6th grade, lets see that was like 1960? That was my first kit although I was intimately involved with electronics. I made my career as an electronics engineer, for 50 years now, and just retired. Now it is time to get back on track with my Knight kit gear. I have and am about 3/4 of the way through rebuilding the R100A and just picked up another T150A to restore as mine disappeared somewhere along the lines. If someone has one or knows of one I would love to get some pictures, and/or the assembly manual. I have most of the rest. Also anyone that may have a parts unit that is available. Could use an S meter for the Receiver, and a few pieces for the transmitter. I have all the paperwork, manuals etc for the receiver if anyone needs.

Hi Rowdy,
I've got a plate meter for a T-150. I've got one on the bench I'm working on....been trying to settle the band-scanner VFO down from drifting. I too am one of those people who got hooked as a kid. I still have my old T-60 I used as a novice ham in the early 60's. I have restored a number of boat anchor radios I use on the air from time to time. Just acquired an R-100A and intend to use it with the T-150A.

The occurrence of pain rises as people get older, and women are more likely to experience pain than men. A pain management specialist is a doctor who evaluates your pain and treats a wide range of pain problems. A pain management doctor treats sudden pain problems such as headaches and many types of long-lasting, chronic, pain such as low back pain. Patients are seen in a pain clinic and can go home the same day. Pain management doctors offer a mix of medication-based treatments and procedures, that can stop the pain at its source. Types of pain treated by a pain management doctor The types of pain treated by a pain management doctor fall into three main groups. The first is pain due to direct tissue injury, such as arthritis. The second type of pain is due to nerve injury or a nervous system disease, such as a stroke. The third type of pain is a mix of tissue and nerve injury, such as back pain. However, pain fall into two major categories namely: acute and chronic pain. Acute pain is a normal response to tissue injury, which starts suddenly and is usually short-lived. Chronic (ongoing) pain persists beyond the normal time of healing and generally lasts for longer than three months. Pain may be anything from a dull ache to a sharp stab, and can range from mild to extreme. Pain may be located in one part of the body or it may be widespread. Studies suggest that a person’s outlook and the way they cope emotionally with long-term (chronic) pain can influence their quality of life. Counselling can help support you to manage the emotional and psychological effects of chronic pain. Understanding the causes of your pain can help reduce your fear and anxiety. The pain management clinic Pain patients are seen in an outpatient pain clinic that has procedure rooms, with ultrasound and X-ray imaging. Sometimes, the pain doctor performs the procedures in a nearby hospital. Some pain doctors may offer you sedation during the treatments. However, this is not needed in many cases. Key pain management strategies include: • pain-relieving medications • physical or occupational therapy • complementary therapies (such as acupuncture and massage) • counselling.
